The bar chart illustrates the numbers of three different types of tourists to a museum between 1997 and 2012, including adult visitors, people under 15 and special exhibition visitors.
Overall, while the figure for adult visitors and children aged under 15 displayed similar trends throughout the period, the number of special exhibition tourists experienced an increase. Another notable point is that mature visitors had the highest share of visitors whereas those who visited the museum’s special events had the lowest figure.
In 1997, the museum recorded about 300,100 adult visitors, followed by the figure for visitors aged under 15 at 120,000. Meanwhile, the attendance for special events stood at only 28,000, which was about 272,100 people lower than that of adult visitors.
By 2002, mature visitors saw a slight increase to 302,200, whereas visitors aged under 15 saw a decline to 110,000. However, the figure for mature visitors continued to climb and reached its peak at 400,500 before declining to 380,000 at the end of the period. Meanwhile, visitors in the under-15 age group witnessed a steady decrease between 1997 and 2012, reaching 82,300 in 2012. The attendance for special events increased until standing at 42,000 at the end of the period.
