The bar chart compares the number of visiors categorized into three major groups: adult, children (under 15 years old) and specialist from 1997 to 2012. Generally, while both adult and special guest number experienced a substantial growth, the opposite trend occurred in the children’s figure. Additionally, adults remained consistently the largest groups throughout the period.
At the beggining, over 300,000 vistors are over the age 15, which was ten times that of special exhibition visitors’ number (at 28,000). In the next ten years, the total of adult tourists skyrocketed to reach its peak at exactly 400,500 before slightly declining to roughly 380,000 people. Whereas, a marginal but gradual increase of totally 14,000 visitors in 15 years was displayed at the data of special group.
Concerning the remaining section, children showed the less level of enthusiasm in 1997 compared to adults, standing at only 120 thousand visitors. Over the following fifteen years, its figure continued to plumment notably to hit a low of only 82,000 children who explored the museum in 2012. Despite this decrease, the total number of visitors recorded a considerable upward trend of nearly 60,000 new vistors, rising from 448,100 in 1997 to 504,300 people in 2012.
