The bar chart compares the percentage of children in three different age groups (5-8, 9-11, and 12-15 years old) who participated in four distinct leisure activities in a European country in 2009.
Overall, watching TV was by far the most popular activity for all age groups, whereas playing video games was the least favored choice among older teenagers.
Looking closely at the details, watching TV recorded the highest figures on the chart. Approximately 95% of children aged 5-8 spent their time watching TV, while the percentage for both 9-11 and 12-15 year-olds stood at around 80%. In contrast, reading comics showed relatively even participation across all three groups, with figures ranging narrowly from 62% for the youngest children to 66% for the oldest age group.
As for playing video games, about 60% of children aged 5-8 and 9-11 participated in this activity, but this number dropped considerably to 40% for children aged 12-15. Finally, riding bikes was popular among the oldest children, with roughly 80% of 12-15 year-olds taking part, compared to 67% of 5-8 year-olds and nearly 60% of those aged 9-11.
