Paper had the highest proportion of recycling, with approximately 25 percent, which faced continuous growth and reached 32 and 38 percent of recycling waste substances in 1997 and 2002, respectively. Similarly, the proportion of recycling glasses exhibited increase, reaching 28 percent in 1997 from 18 percent at the begging of the period. Then, its percentage grew considerably and climbed at about 48 percent in 2002.
The proporion of recycling cans from household waste materials fluctuated gradually and dropped to almost 12 percent from 18 percent in 1997 before increasing to 23 percent in 2002. Plastic had the least rate of recycling among all materials, with 10 percent in 1992, which rose to 12 percent in 1997 and remained steady at this level for the next following years.
