The following bar chart illustrates the percentage of households in owned and rented accommodation in England and Whales during the year 1918 to 2011.The data indicates that the amount of accommodation in owned households make a gradual increase from 1918 to 2001.
According to the bar chart,the no of people living in owned house is about 23% in the year 1918,and make a slight increase in the year 1939 approximately 32% and was also constant till 1953.Then the people owning self accommodation makes a gradual increases in 1961,1971,1981 and it become approximately about 70% in the year 1991 and remains constant till the year 2001.But accomodation in owned house make a gradual decrease in the year 2011 upto around 65%.Secondly the number of people living in rented house is very high in the year 1918 around 75%.But it make slight decrease in the year 1939 and remains constant untill the year 1953 it is because of the people living in self owned house increases.Then it started declining in the years 1961,1971,1981,1991 and reached around 30% in the year 2001.Then as the number of people living in owned house decreases people living in rented house increases simultaneously in 2011 upto 35%.
It is evident from the data that most of the people in England and Whales prefer self owned accommodation than rented accommodation
