The bar chart compares five different countries in terms of the proportion of men and women with a university diploma in 2001.
Overall, the percentage of females who graduated from university in the USA and Germany was much higher than that of men, whereas the reverse was true for the remaining countries.
To begin with female-dominated countries, 45% of the female population in Germany had a higher education qualification, while that of males was 10% lower. As for the USA, women had a clear advantage over men in terms of higher education qualifications, accounting for 40% and 35%, respectively.
With regard to male-dominated countries, there was a 10% disparity between females and males with a university diploma in Switzerland, with the latter being dominant (45%). Similarly, the figure for men who possessed a higher education qualification in Britain was 5% higher than that of women. Interestingly, a 5% difference could be seen in Japan as well.
