Overall, the number of people migrated Australia in 1987 was more pronounced compared to that of 1997.Besides, the most significant number of migrants in Australia came from Europe in both years, although it decreased noticeably, while the reverse was true for North/South America.
Regarding to Europe, Rest of Asia and North/South America, they all experienced a decline in spite of ranking higher in both years. Europe dominated in 1987 and 1997 in terms of the number of migrants in Australia, 38% and 27% respectively. Initially, Rest of Asia came second with 22% , yet dropped suddenly to 17% at the end. However, North/South Africa decreased a mere 1% from 6% to 5%, remaining as the least constituted.
Turning to Oceania, Middle East/North Africa and Northeast Asia, they increased detectably over the survey. Oceania represented 17% in 1987 before increasing to 23%.Meanwhile, the number of migrants in Middle East/North Africa and Northeast Asia constituted for the same numbers in 1987, a solid 15%, but the former stayed at 20% and the latter was 24% in 1997.
