The bar graph compares the proportions of the world’s population in India, China, the USA and Japan in 1950 and 2000 and also provides projections for 2050.
Overall, it is clear that China had the highest proportion of the world’s population during the past period, but India is projected to take the leading position in the near future. On the other hand, Japan had the lowest proportion of the world’s population during the given period and is also projected to remain the lowest in the future.
In 1950, China accounted for a little over a quarter of the world’s population. Although it decreased to a little under a quarter, it was still the highest in 2000, compared to the other countries. It is estimated that China’s proportion will continue to decline and will reach approximately 19% by 2050. On the other hand, India showed the opposite trend to China. The proportion increased moderately to 19% by 2000 and is further expected to grow and reach nearly 20%, which would be the highest among the given countries by 2050.
When it comes to the proportions for the USA and Japan, both experienced a decline from 1950 to 2000. It is predicted that the percentages will remain the same in the USA, whereas in Japan, the proportion is likely to keep falling until 2050.
