The chart illustrates the steps to recycle waste paper. Overall, there are six steps involved in this process, starting with the collection of waste paper and ending with usable paper made by machine.
The initial stage of the cycle starts with gathering waste paper. Discarded paper can be gathered from various sources, mainly from public paper banks and other businesses. The next step is manually sorting, paper is assessed by workers and any inappropriate paper will be taken away to avoid affecting the quality of recycled paper. After careful assortment, paper will be transported to paper mill to prepare for the next stage in the process.
After arriving at the paper factory, waste paper will face the cleaning stage which is the purification of any unwanted material. In this stage, any unnecessary material will be removed (staples, plastic cover, etc…). Then the paper will be mashed to prepare for the following step. After cleaning, waste paper will undergo de-inking stage, in this process, ink and glues will be stripped down using various kind of chemicals. After all the steps above, waste paper will have to go through a paper making machine, this will result in usable paper for the public.
