The bar chart compares the percentage of Canadian internet users, both male and female, during the year 2000.
Overall, while the most popular activities for both groups were E-mail and Goods and services, there were fewer users for Research and education.
The gap between the two figures differed when compared deeply within each activity. Female users of E-mail were almost identical to males at approximatelly 70%, whilst males ranked first in accessing Goods and services at just over 70% compared with around 60% of their female counterparts. In terms of using the internet for Games men led the list with around 65%, in contrast to women, nearly at 60%.
There were more male clients using the internet for chat rooms, approximately 50%, compared to around 48% of females. Female clients also ranked first in using the internet for Online shopping with 38%, while the share of male was lower by 10 percentage points. The gender discrepancy for Research and education was nearly equivalent at approximately 15% and 10%, respectively.
