The chart compares the amount of time that adolescents and seniors spent every day in entertainment and sports activities, located in US in 2015. Overall, compared to other hobbies, watching TV attracted the highest number of participants by both age groups; sports, exercise and recreation were recorded with the least spending hours.
Watching TV, reading and relaxing, thinking are three sections that were dedicated by people from age 15-19 more than the eldest people. The engagement of watching TV was remarkably high in both age brackets, as 2.4 hours for youths, since old people’s amount of time nearly doubled that. Reading and relaxing category was witnessed with the lowest spending hours by youngsters, only 0.1 and 0.2. However, people from 75 years old and above spent 1 and 0.6 hour for these activities, respectively.
The remaining sections were recorded with longer participating hours by adolescents more than elderly. While playing video games averagely 1.1 hours every day was witnessed in the youths, the amount of time for this in seniors was only a half. These figures in sports activities resulted in 0.6 and 0.2 hours, respectively, whereas the socializing category was slightly higher, at 0.8-0.7.
