From an overall perspective,nearly all types of transport distance travelled by each mode of transport increased albeit at different levels, except for bicycle and motorbike, which fell during the period.
To start with the year 1990, Bus accounted for the largest distance travelled per week, at 40 km, followed closely by Rail transport at around 37 kilometres. Motorbike represented much smaller distance at around 5 km, while Air travel and bicycle showed the smallest distance travelled per week per person at around 2 km. The total distance travelled by passengers represented 100 km.
By 2000, The total distance travelled by passengers experienced a moderate rise to 110 km. Bus and Rail saw increase, each rising to 2 km, while distance travelled by motorbike and bicycle fell sharply during the period, decreasing to nearly 2 km. Air travell increased slightly to around 5 km over the period.
