The figures were thought to fall below 13 million in the subsequent years but showcased a growth and reached 15 million by 2000.
Now, looking at the graph of Sao Paulo, the city unmistakably had and continue to have the highest number of residents. In 1990, Sao Paulo was home to nearly 17 million people. The numbers were estimated to reach above 20 million in a decade but had a big surge and the numbers shot up to about 27 million.
