In Japan, the level of overweight population was at around 2%. This figure increased minimally to about 3% by 1990, and then rose slightly to 5% in 2000. Similarly, the figure for obesity level in Sweden was 6% in 1980, and increased steadily in the next two decades to just 11% by the end of the period.
The level of overweight people in London was approximately 8% in 1980. Meanwhile, those in Britain rose consistently at around 6%, just above 5% of obesity level over the 20-year period. In case, the percentage of obese people in America was at around 17%, just above 15%. In 1990, this proportion increased gradually to 20%. Therefore, those in America grew dramatically to 32% over the last decade-year period.
In conclusion, while America had the highest level of obesity in all these periods, Japan had the lowest.
