The line graph compares the percentages of individuals using four different sources to access news from 1995 and predictions to 2025.
Overall, TV was the most used source until 2020 as the internet’s share is predicted to overtake its popularity by 2025, also experiencing the most substantial growth over the period. Additionally, the popularity of radio, newspaper and the TV saw an overall downward trend, whereas the internet usage increased and is going to rise substantially.
TV usage decreased from almost 70% to around 55% by 2020, and is going to fall by a further 5% points in the next five years. Following this, the percentage of both newspaper and radio usage stood at approximately 55% respectively and then dropped to 30% and around 28% by 2020. Thus, the figure for both is projected to decrease by roughly 2% and 6% by 2025.
By contrast, even though the internet usage was the least popular (1%) at the beginning, its figure then rose considerably to 40% by 2020 and is highly likely to reach approximately 55% by 2025 and become the most preferred source.
