Overal, while the proportion of tourist to zoo and castle experienced an upward trend, the opposite was true for the figure for aquarium and festival.
In 1980, the rate of travellers to Scotish castle was over 20%, which was double than the figure for zoo’s travellers. From 1980 to 1995, while the percentage of zoo’s visiters to around 13%, the percentage of castle’s tourists witnessed a significant growth to approximately 45% at the same time. The figure for visitors to Scotish zoo decreased to 10% again in 2000, before increasing gradually to 2-% in 2010. At the same period, the percentage of visitors to castle in Scotland declined gradually to nearly 33%.
Turning to the figure for visitors to aquarium and festival, the percentage for tourists who took part in the festival decreased from around 30% to under 20% over the period. On the other hand, the percentage of visitors to the aquarium increased significantly to abou 35% in 1985, followed by a significant decrease from 35% to around 10% in the final year.
