The pie chart and bar chart provide information about where and what kinds of dance classes young individuals in an Australian town are currently enrolled in.
Overall, private studios are the most popular venues for dance classes, whereas college-based studios account for the smallest proportion. Additionally, most children under 6 years old prefer ballet, while teenagers between 11 and 16 years old are fond of modern dance.
Private studios represent a significant proportion of the location of dance classes, comprising roughly 48%, attracting most young people’s preference. Conversely, school halls, which rank second in terms of percentage, account for only half the proportion of private studios (24%) —less than a quarter—and are likely utilized primarily after school hours. Meanwhile, the remaining share is divided between community halls & others and college-based studios, comprising 18% and 10%, the smallest percentages.
However, the options for types of dance classes vary significantly across ages. Regarding ballet, kids under 11 years old outperformed teenagers between 11 and 16 years old by reaching 600 participants, which is twice as many as teenagers’ nearly 300 participants. In contrast, modern dance has become the preferred choice for teenagers, achieving almost two-thirds as many participants as that of children (510 versus 300). Notably, the difference between the two age groups is least pronounced in tap dance, where children reach 430 participants, slightly ahead of teenagers’ 420 participants.
