The given pie chart illustrates how the percentage of energy produced from various materials changed between 1985 and 2003. Overall, energy manufactured from natural gas made up the largest portion, whereas the reverse was true for others renewable during the period.

In 1985, the figure for natural gas was at 52%, being in the first position among all categories. This was followed by that for nuclear, with more than one-tenth, nearly doubling the shares of oil. Besides, the figure for coal was just under 10%, but it was still 7% higher than the most minimal fraction – ‘others renewable’.

With regard to 2003, the ratio of natural gas maintained its place at the same figure compared to before, while that of nuclear witnessed a rapid decline to 8%, being surpassed by that of oil (13%). Additionally, the figure for ‘others renewable’ increased marginally by 3% after 18 years, which was half of that for coal.
