The charts illustrate factors for travel and the important issues for the travelling public in the US in 2009. Overall, to and from work was the main reason for travel, while price of travel accounted for the most issues for the travelling public in the US.
In detail, most of people travelled because of their job, it accounted for the highest ratio, 49%. Personal reasons and shopping ranked second and third in reasons for travel with 19% and 16%, respectively. People also travelled because of social/ recreation and visiting friends/relatives but it was quite low, just 16% when combined
Travellers often noticed on price of travel most and its accounted for 36% in travelling issues. Besides, the proportion of safety concerns were 19%, ranked second after price of travel. There also had many different issues for travelling public such as aggressive drivers, highway congestion, access to public transport and space for pedestrians which accounted for 17%, 14%, 8% and 6%,respectively.
