Overall, there is an increase in the number of students in all three subjects, with Arts being the exception. While Business was the subject that had the most students enrolled in both periods, Engineering was the subject that increased the most. Despite some fluctuations, there is a net increase in the percentage of international students who completed their degrees.
Business had 25 thousand international students in 2010. It later increased to 37 thousand students in 2020 and was still the most enrolled subject. Engineering began with only 12 thousand students. It experienced an increase of 16 thousand students, and finished with a total of 28 thousand students in 2020. In contrast, Medicine rose by only 1,000 international students, from 10,000 in 2010 to 11,000 in 2020. Arts had 15,000 international students and dropped by 7,000 during the period, to only 8,000 in 2020.
74% of international students completed their course in 2010, and the percentage rose to 80% in 2012 and fell to 79% in 2014. This was followed by a massive increase to around 94% in 2018, before falling slightly to around 93% in 2020.
