Overall, quality of life was the most significant reason for leaving the UK, whereas family and friends were the by far the main reason for staying. Financial reasons and employment were common factors in both charts, while weather and social life were unique to the respective charts.
Regarding those who leave the UK, quality of life was the most common reason, accounting for 37%. Financial reasons were the second-largest factor, at 24%, followed by employment at 18%. Weather accounted for 12%, whereas family and friends represented the smallest proportion at 9%.
Turning to those who choose to stay, family and friends were the dominant factor, representing 43% of the total. Social life was the second most common reason, at 21%. Financial reasons and employment accounted for an equal 15% each, while language was the least significant factor, at 11% only.
