Overall, There were increases in the percentage of water used for the service industry and household use while decreases were seen in the food industry, building industry and manufacturing. It is also noteworthy that the food industry used the most water in both years.
Looking first at the figures with increases, 13% of total water was used by the service industry in 1997, after which it rose significantly to almost double in 2007, claiming the second spot. Meanwhile, the percentage of household use started at 19% in the first year, after that it increased by 2% the last year.
Moving on to decreased sectors, the food industry used nearly half of total water use in the beginning, it then fell slightly to 41% ten years later. Similarly, manufacturing consumed 15% of the total water in 1997, after that it decreased minimally to 11% in 2007. Additionally, water usage of the building industry started at 5% in the first year before dropping by more than half to 2% in the final year. It is important to note that this sector required the least water in both years.
