Overall, gasoline was 20 cents more expensive than petrol for the whole period in both states. Both states showed upward trends, but ultimately decreased to the lowest points by the end of the period.
In State A, the initial prices for gasoline and petrol were $0.8 and $0.6, respectively. The next year, they went up by 25 cents, initiating a growth trend for 2 more years, resulting in $ 1.40 and $ 1.20, respectively, in 2008. Both figures, however, decreased by around 2 times, reaching $0.75 for gasoline and $0.55 for petrol by the end.
State B showed a similar tendency at the beginning, rising from $0.9 for gasoline and $0.7 for petrol to $1.15 and $0.95, respectively, then fluctuating slightly to $1.1 and $0.9. 2008, likewise, the peak year for the prices, representing $1.3 for the former and $1.1 for the latter, but the next year, the prices became 5 cents cheaper than those in State A.
