The bar charts compare six different services and commodities in terms of consumer spending in a particular European country in 1998 and 2008, with figures shown in percentages.
From an overall perspective, the proportions of spending money on clothing and electronics maintained their leading position, while demand for other items declined significantly, with the exception of eating out which remained at the same percentage in the last year.
Firstly, focusing on the dominant figures, whereas in 1998 the disparity between the proportion of people’s total spending on clothing and that of electronic goods stood at 4%, this gap shrunk and it reached 2% by significant increase in the percentage for clothing from 12% to 18%.
Turning to the remaining commodities, the percentage of total allocation money for holidays decreased by 3% during the period, however, that of eating cuts stayed at some level at 6%. Additionally, in 2008, total spending money on newspapers and going to the cinema decreased three times and they reached 1% each.
