The bar charts compare the percentage of annual oil reserve as well as the oil consumption on ten different areas in the world. Overall, while the oil reserve is concentrated within the middle east, the majority oil consumption is dominated within 3 areas; Asia, the U.S., and Western Europe.
More than half of the world’s oil reserve, approximately 56% of total oil reserve, held in the Middle East area. Second to that, Canada only produce about 14% of oil, a quarter of the Middle East oil reserve. This left all the other areas of the world with just under 70% of total oil reserve. Despite the substansial oil reserve, the Middle east oil consumption is only about 4% in total, which is roughly 7% of the area’s oil reserve is self-consumed.
By contrast, the three area of main oil consumer; Asia, the US, and Western Europe, consume about 70% of total world’s oil consumption. The chart alone implies that most of the world areas doesn’t produce oil themself, in spite, they imported oil from the producing areas.
