Overall, Ph.D.-Science degree rose from near the bottom to the top position meanwhile, first degree-art plummeted significantly in1990 and 2010.
In 1990, master-science accounted for the highest proportion with 29%, followed by first degree-science with 20%. While Ph.D.-Science accounted for only 13% ranking second lowest. However, in 2010 Ph.D.Science grew over twice as much from 13% to 30%, turned into the most common qualifications and surpass master-science. Despite the growth in other qualifications, the proportion of staff with a master’s degree stayed the same. In contrast, first degree-science decrease by almost half from 20% to 11%.
To turn to arts qualification, in 1990 master-art ranking at top with 21% followed by first degree-art with 21%. A marginally 2% of the staff had Ph.D.-Art qualifications. But in 2010, First Degree-Art drop sharply from 15% to 2% (decreased almost eightfold). Both Ph.D.-Art and Master-Art degrees saw slight increases, rising by 5% and 23% respectively.
