The graphs below show us firstly renewable energy production in four countries from 2010 to 2020, secondly renewable energy production in the US from 2010 to 2020, and finally an energy source breakdown in a certain country in 2020.
Overall, in the first graph the United States produced the most renewable energy, while India produced the least. In the second graph, wind is the most popular while bioenergy is the least. Finally, in the third graph, the most popular alternative method was wind while the least was bioenergy, the same as in the second graph.
Firstly, in 2010 the US started as the most dominant group and continued as that up to 2020. It experienced a few major rises over the period as it went from 60Twh to 120Twh, which means it effectively doubled its renewable energy production in a decade. Germany started as the second most dominant country in that field with 42Twh, but it didn’t have any major rises, so it finished the period in third place with 80Twh. China, on the other hand, is completely opposite; it started the period as third with a mere 30Twh, but it then had a few major increases which led it to catch up to the US in 2020 at 120Twh. India started the decade with 12Twh, it then had a few steady increases and finished still in last place with a mere 50Twh.
Starting the period, wind and hydropower had almost the same energy production at 20Twh, followed by both solar and biopower at 10Twh. Wind and solar then experienced drastic increases throughout the decade, more than doubling their previous production, and they finished the period with 80Twh and about 50Twh respectively. Hydropower, even though it started as high as wind, didn’t have any major increases and only got an additional 5Twh over the decade, finishing the period with 25Twh. Bioenergy had a slow and moderate increase, finishing the period with 20Twh, doubling what it had previously.
Wind is the most dominant category out of the four with 37%, followed by solar at 24%, hydropower is in third with 20%, and bioenergy contributed a mere 19% to the graph.
