It is apparent from the charts that the volunteers of environmental, sports, and healthcare organizations saw an upward trend while a reverse trend appeared in the remaining groups namely educational, art, and others. Additionally, healthcare organizations held the smallest amount of volunteers in both years.
In 2008, educational organizations held the largest amount of volunteers, at 24%, followed by environmental and arts projects with 21% and 18% of people participating in it, respectively. Meanwhile, 15% of volunteers worked in the sports field, which was the same figure as other groups. Health care organizations, however, had the least volunteers with 7% of people engaged in.
After 6 years, environmental groups had surpassed the educational one, with approximately 30% of contributors, while the percentage of educational volunteers had dropped to 17%. An upward trend appeared in sports with 25% of people working in it, whereas arts and other fields saw a decline with 12% and 9%, respectively. The health care sector, while witnessing a slight rise of 1%, still the least favored choice among volunteers.
