The first chart illustrates the exports of the top three pineapple-producing countries from 2009 to 2019. The second graph shows the breakdown of the cost per pineapple for a consumer in 2019.
Overall, it can be seen that exports from countries A and C increased, while imports from country B fell dramatically. Regarding the breakdown of costs, distribution and retail occupied the greatest proportion.
Firstly, the number of pineapples exported from country A rose considerably from roughly 1 to 10 million metric tons in 2019. In contrast, imports from country B declined sharply by approximately 2 million metric tons. Concerning country C, there was an export growth of about 0.3 MT.
Secondly, the breakdown of costs mainly consisted of distribution and retail, which had 35%, followed by profit at 18% and taxes at 16%. The figures for international transport and import licenses were lower, at 12% and 10%, respectively. The remaining 9% was taken by export costs and producer, although producer was slightly greater by a percent.
