The diagram is illustrating a typical process of generation of electricity designed in a hydroelectric power station.
If we have a closer look in the process flow diagram, in the start we will find a high-level reservoir equipped with Dam followed by a channel for water flowing purpose. Then we have power station with critical technicality-based generator connected with national grid via power lines along with reversible turbines and at last we have a low-level reservoir.
There are mainly two types of operations processing distinctively in day and night. In day session, the intake of the dam is allowed to open to provide water flow to the power station’s turbines following an inclined flowing channel to accelerate the flow. Turbines start rotating and produced electricity utilizing generator and this result in production of electricity. However, in night session, the turbines act pumps in order to return the water back from the low-level reservoir to the high-level reservoir in order to reperform the same process, by keeping the dam intake closed.
