The maps illustrate the appearance of a Shakefield town in 1995 and the changes that had taken place there by now.
In terms of overall transformation, the town has shifted its focus towards industrializing, pedestrianization and accessibility, with the addition of new apartments, holiday homes and wide range of courses for visitors and its tenants. Of particular note can be is the removal of morning fish boats to make way for a new water yacht.
In 1995, the wooden pier lied in the south-west section of the plan, adjacent to fish market. The fish market is across from coffee shop. The main road went through the north-west area of this field and moved northwards. The coffee shop and old hotel were opposite to each other. The sport section was situated on the western part of the map, across the road. The house complexes were at the back of the sport section. In the center, the public park was located for amusement. The farm land was in the top right-hand corner, connecting to the main road.
In spite of these alternations, the harbor is chopped down for the sake of installing yacht. The fish market place is supplanted by a new apartments so that many citizens could stay here and the coffee shop is not subjected to change and still remains its original character. The hotel and housing area are renovated and increased in size to be more comfort for visitors. The car park is erected in the east so as to make place for cars. Using the space by public park and woodland, the council has constructed holiday dwellings. The tennis and golf courses are added at the expense of the farm land.
