The three maps given, depict the changes that took place at West Park Secondary School since its construction in 1950. Overall, it can be noted that the school underwent reconstruction twice since 1950, once in the year 1980 and again in 2010.
To begin with, in 1950, the school was located along the main road, adjacent to a housing area. A playground was situated to the south side of the school and to the east of a farmland.
In 1980, the housing area was replaced with a small car park and a newly constructed science block. Moreover, the school’s main building and playground remained intact, compared to the farmland which had been transformed into a sports field.
In the year 2010, significant changes can be observed. The area comprising of a small car park and a sports field was demolished to create a larger car park. Additionally, the playground was divided to accommodate a sports field which is now next to the large car park. However, the science block and the main school building remained unchanged.
