The maps demonstrate how the West Park secondary school had been transformed twice over the period between 1950 and 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the diagram is that the location of the schools’main building remained unchanged throughout two drastic transformations.
To begin with, the school had witnessed considerable changes between 1950 and 1980. The farmland that used to situated in the southwest corner of the map had been replaced by a sports field. In a similar fashion, a car park and a science block had been constructed in the proximity of the main building, along with the demolition of the houses. In contrast, the playground stayed the same during this transformation.
As for the second change, the car park had experienced significant expansion to the south. Meanwhile, this extension had taken quite a few place from both the sports field and the playground. As opposed to other amenities which had shifted drastically, both the science block and the schools’main building remained unchanged.
