The three maps demonstrate the transformation that have occurred at West Park Secondary School since its completion in 1950.
Overall, it is clear that West Park Secondary School developed from a poor-quality school to a school with full infrastructure for students.
To begin with, in 1980, the most striking feature is that a new car park and science block was built and replaced the houses in the top left-hand corner of school. Moreover, the old school was refurbished and made into a main building, in addition to the conversion of the farmland into a sports field.
Turning to the year 2010, West Park Secondary School went through some substantial changes, including the extension of the car park to demolish the sports field. Nevertheless, a new sports field was constructed between the new car park and playground, which resulted in narrowing of the playground. What’s more, looking at the top of this area, the main road, the science and the main school building remained unchanged.
In conclusion, West Park Secondary School underwent many changes during the period 1950 to 2010. There were a number of notable modifications, and addition to the new building and amenities of this area.
