The presented illustration depicts the significant changes that occurred at West Park Secondary School over three different years – 1950, 1980, and 2010.
It can be clearly seen that only the main building of the school remained the same without any transformations, other buildings and areas developed throughout the time. In 1950 residential area was located next to the school, to the south. Below the houses farmland was placed, to the left of playground area.
By 1980, farmland was transferred into sports field. The housing area was demolished and replaced by parking place for cars and new building for science block as educational facility expanded during this time.
In 2010, major transformations occurred – parking area extended dramatically at the expanse of sports field, that also lead to a reduction in the playground space. It is worth mentioning that for 60 years school was the sole building that stayed unchanged while everything surrounding it underwent alterations over the years.
