The diagram illustrates the various stages in the life cycle of a fly, from eggs to adulthood.
Overall, the natural cycle includes distinct steps that begin with the eggs and end with the adult fly, which mainly happen in humid places.
Initially, the cycle begins when the female fly lays eggs, which need 8 to 24 hours to hatch. Next, the eggs hatch into the first stage larva, it has a short and big body. After 4 to 7 days, it becomes longer, thinner and it gets a mouth. Similar to the first stage, it develops into third stage larva after 4 to 7 days, which has the longest body in three stages.
Subsequently, the third stage larva grows bigger in width and turns into a pupa, which takes 10 to 20 days for the young fly to emerge. Finally, it takes 20 days for the young fly to grow into a mature fly, which can lay eggs. The cycle stops here and repeats itself.
