The given diagrams illustrate the life cycle of the silkworm and manufacturing process of the silk cloth using silk.
Overall, it is prominent that a silkworm’s life cycle is the four stages, a natural, and cyclical process beginning with eggs and finally ending with cocoons, whereas silk cloth production consists of five stages, and it is a man-made and linear process.
Looking at the details regarding the silkworm, in the first phase, the eggs of the female moths hatch into silkworm larvae, dependent on mulberry leaves as their food source, after ten days later. After that, after four to six weeks, they start to produce the silk thread, which form cocoons after about a week later.
On the other hand, in terms of silk cloth production, first and foremost, the selected cocoons are put into the water in order to boil them. In the subsequent stage, those are unwind to produce the threads that are extended from 300 to 900 meters, which are, next, undergone dyeing and weaving processes to produce the final product— silk threads used for cloth.
