The given diagram shows the process of producing sugar from sugar cane.
Overall, there are seven stages in the process, starting with the growing of sugar cane and ending with the drying and cooling of sugar. Therein, evaporation is the most important step, making the juice become syrup.
First, sugar cane is grown for a period of 12 to 18 months to ready to collected. After that, the crop is harvested by a machine or by workers cutting the plants by hand.
Next, the harvested sugar cane is crushed in a machine to extract juice. Then it passed through a limestone filter to remove impurities. After that, it is heated in an evaporator, where removed the water and the liquid become thick syrup.
Then, the syrup is put in a centrifuge, which separates sugar crystals from the remaining liquid. Finally, the sugar crystals are dried and cooled in a container. At the end of the process, the finished sugar is ready for people to use.
