The diagram displays the water cycle in both forested and urban areas.
To start, in places that include trees, the water cycle begins whith a good proportion of precipitation. Then, it passes through the permeable topsoil reaching the infiltration area, where it get filtered. After that, it goes from the water table to the baseflows, and these two steps happen in a less permeable subsall on rock area. At the end, it goes to the runoff stage. In all of these steps, there is an increase of the evaporation and transpiration.
On the other hand, the water cycle in the urban area starts in a very similar way to how it started in the forests. The first step, starts with a big amount of precipitation. Then, it goes to the same place that the water reached in the forests, which is the infiltration in the permeable topsoil area, but it is quite noticable that there is a reduce in the infiltration. That is also the case with the transpiration and the evaporation, In matter of a fact, that is the obvious differance between the water cycle in the urban’s, and the forests that the diagram illustrated. Furthermore, the water reaches the evosion area, then ends up in the polluted runoff, where8 both have an increase.
