The process illustrates the growth of pineapples and how they are used for different purposes.
Overall, the process involves both the natural growth of pineapples and man-made elements. In addition, pineapples are processed into juice, canned food, or exported products, depending on their size.
Looking first at the natural development of pineapples, the fruit is planted from the crown, and 26 cm is the distance between each crown. After 7 months of growth, with temperatures ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius, pineapples are watered with ethylene. Over the following 5 months, the fruit is harvested when it meets certain criteria, including 30 cm of height and 2 kg of weight.
In terms of preparing pineapples and pineapple products, harvested pineapples are washed before being sorted according to their size. After that, the large-sized pineapples are waxed before the packaging step. In this stage, these fruits are packaged for export. Additionally, both the medium-sized and small-sized pineapples’ tops are cut off, and their rinds are peeled. Meanwhile, the medium-sized pineapples are processed to produce canned food, the smallest pineapples are extracted to produce juice.
