The diagram illustrates the process of cooking a meal using a solar box oven. Overall, there are three main stages involved in this straightforward process, starting with preparing the materials, followed by assembling the oven and lastly placing the entire setup directly under sunlight to cook the meal.
Before the pot is placed inside, the cardboard box needs to be painted black. Initially, the cardboard box is painted black, then a pot containing vegetables or other food is placed inside the cardboard box. In the next step, once the box is placed inside a larger box, materials such as newspaper, grass and sawdust are placed at the bottom of larger box.
The next stage starts when the larger box is covered with a foil and glass lid is placed on top. Finally, the whole setup is placed under direct sunlight so that the black cardboard box absorb light and convert it into heat in order to cook dishes by raising the internal temperature to around 82°C.
