The two diagrams illustrate the various stages in the production of plate glass and the way that bottle glass is manufactured.
Overall, there are three different steps in the process of making plate glass, starting from the mixing of three main ingredients to the rolling of the products. Similarly, the production of bottle glass also consists of three main stages.
At the first stage in the plate glass-making process, the mixing of three main ingredients namely sand, limestone and soda are taken to the furnace and heated at 1700 degrees Celsius. Once the ingredients are heated, they become the molten glass, which is channeled to a tank. At this point, the molten glass is extracted from the tank, go through the rollers, which are used to straighten the plate glass.
Turning to the process of producing the bottle glass, the bottle glass is also made by the mixing of three main ingredients at the first stage, and the liquid transforms into the molten glass. However, at this point, there are more stages than plate glass-making process. Before identifying the shape of bottle, both the molten glass and the compressed air has been pumped inside the mold tank, and the rest one is empty. Finally, after decreasing the temperature, the mold is removed and the bottle glass is formed.
