The diagrams illustrate the natural process of a salmon’s life, showing how it grows up from an egg to an adult fish.
Overall, it is evident that the life cycle of a salmon follows a series of sequential stages, with an egg in water serving as the starting point and a spawning adult marking the end of the process.
The process commences when an egg is laid in a fresh water. After 3 months, it hatches and develops into a small fish with a few features called Alevin. At this point, it feeds on yolk sac for several weeks to grow up Fry which is able to swim, has gone through 5 to 10 weeks of life. As a result, it starts developing finger-like markings a few months later where it involves most of the features of a normal fish.
The subsequent stage reveals some small physical changes and main activities in salmon’s life. From a Parr with orange skin, its skin transforms to another color after 1 to 3 years old. Besides that, it and other salmons will form group and migrate to sea to survive. Salmon lives in sea for 1 to 6 years until it undergoes some changes about its appearance to become spawning adult. Finally, it spawns a number of eggs and dies within 2 weeks. Ultimately, it returns the initial stage, allowing the cycle to begin again.
