The given diagrams illustrate data on the primary reasons workers opted for remote work, alongside both genders’ working hours on a weekly basis in 2019.
Overall, it is obvious that the main reason for telecommuting for both sexes was saving money, while productivity and easier childcare were the least popular reasons for females and males, respectively. Additionally, the majority of men worked over 30 hours per week, while most women put in less than 10 hours of work weekly.
In detail, 45% of men and 42% of women opted for remote working due to money saving, ranking it the most prevalent rationale among the chart. Meanwhile, increased productivity was the main reason 24% of males chose to work from home, whereas only 11% of females considered this the premise for home-based working. By contrast, only 4% of men regarded easier childcare as a justification for telecommuting, compared with women’s 26%.
Concerning working hours, 81% of male workers put in over 30 hours a week, which was substantially higher than the 6% of women working the same hours every week. Conversely, nearly three-fourths of females committed to under 10 hours of work per week, while a marginal 3% of their male counterparts devoted the same amount of time to work weekly. Additionally, the proportion of women working 10 to 30 hours per week was 22%, which was 6% higher than that of men.
