The diagram below illustrates the process of recycling plastic bottles.
Overall, this process consists of 9 steps, most of which are automated. The first step is to place plastic bottles in the designated bins ,while the last step involves producing end products.
To begin with, after the bottles are collected from the bins by trucks , they are taken to a recycling center. At this stage , workers sort through the bottles they have received. Next, the recycled plastic is compressed into blocks. The fifth step involves crushing and washing the bottles using a special machine, which results in small pieces of plastic.
In the last 4 processes, the plastic pieces are transformed into pellets which are heated and molded into raw material for various products. The final step is the production of the end products, such as containers, t-shirts, bags and even pencils.
To sum up, by recycling the common plastic bottles that people use every day, we can obtain useful products for our daily lives.
