The line graph illustrates the value of clothing exports from 1988 to 2012 in Bangladesh, while the pie chart depicts the distribution of exports in different destinations in 2012.

In general, exported clothing’s value of Bangladesh witnessed an upward trend over the 24 year-period. 2012, USA and European Union were the biggest exported clothing markets of Bangladesh. Bangladesh only earned approximately $2.5 billion from exporting clothes in 1988, however the figures grew slightly in the followed years, reaching over $5 billion in 2004. This tendency continuously rose before the value of exports rocketed to $20 billion in 8 years later.

In 2012, European Union accounted for 60% of Bangladesh’s clothes exports ( with $11.38 billion), this was followed by The United States with 24%( $4.35 billion). In contrast, the market share of Canada, Turkey and Japan was significantly lower, at 5%, 1% and 2% respectively, as Bangladesh solely transported clothes that worth under 1 billion to those countries. The value of exports to other countries was $1.52 billion, made up 8% of the overall turnover.
