The first table demonstrates the number of population of New York City between 1800 and 2000. The second and third tables convey the details of the population of the five districts ( Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island) over the same given period of time.
Overall, the percentage of the New York’s population changed rapidly
throughout the years. Although Manhattan was occupied by the most percentage of total number of the residents in 1800, other districts took a leading place as the most populated place in New York in 2020.
Notably, when the total population in New lork was only 79,216, Manhattan prevailed among other districts – 76% of the whole number of people was located in that district. However, as 200 years passed, the situation changed. Only 19% of the total population residented in Manhattan.
It is seen, that 1800 was not a remarkable year for other districts. 24% of total population was living in them. Conversely, as the number of people occupied in New York grew to 8, 009,185 in 2000, the total contribution of Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Staten in percent was 81%, which was a big leap, from comparing with the percentage of 1900 (46%).
