Overall, the amount of mobile phone owners always higher in 2010 than 2005 thanks to the advancement of technologies.
To begin with, the most striking point was the increase in the number of Germans using mobile phones. They started at 4 million users in 2005 and rose to a peak in 2010 with 14 million Germans owning the phones. Meanwhile, the Americans were on the way to catching up with the Germans with 12 million mobile phone buyers in 2010, which was nearly 8 million higher than in 2005. The following four countries were Italy, Sweden, France, and Spain which also had a sharp upward between 2005 and 2010, from less than 4 million mobile phone ownership to approximately 11, 9, 7, and 6 million phone users respectively. On the other hand, the quantity of phone owners in Finland, Norway and Netherlands were almost on par and had little differences.
