The following bar chart depicts changes in fertility rate in 6 Arabic countries between 1990 and 2000.
Overall, the amount of children per female dropped everywhere (in every region). Although Oman and S. Arabia had the highest rates than others in both years (as in 2000), women in Oman had about 7 children in 1990, while women in Bahrain and Kuwait gave a birth two times less and had about 4 children. In addition, fertility rates in Qatar and UAE were approximately 4.2.
By the 2000, birth rates markedly dropped in 30% in Oman and Saudi Arabia, but still were in the top. The figures also leveled out in 25% in UAE, which registered the same numbers to Bahrain and Kuwait – below three births per woman.
