The two maps show the alternations which have taken place in Dubai over the years. Overall, Dubai has experienced rapid urbanization, which transformed it from a low-growing area to a metropolis.
One change that stands out is that its infrastructure have been significantly developed, especially its housing. To the northeast of the roundabout, the sandy area and bushes lining the curbs were replaced by a multitude of skyscrapers. Similarly, to the southeast, roadside bushes and old buildings were demolished to make way for high rises. Roadside bushes in the southwest were cut down, leaving an open space.
Another noticeable change is its transportation. Dubai saw a remarkable growth in vehicles, especially cars. However, its road system has not been upgraded, so its traffic has become crowded.
The only thing that remains unchanged is the clock tower, which maintains both its structure and position. However, trees were planted and encircled this area, creating a verdant space and positive environmental touch.
